Mew Ichigo

phwoo finally finished a non chibi!




The first time I went to Japan was when I saw Tokyo Mew Mew for the first time.
It's been a huge influence on my anime art style and Mew Ichigo is one of my all time favourite magical girls.
It's my birthday tomorrow so here's a little toast to one of my biggest artistic inspirations and how much I love the show!

When working on this I realised I'm very /very/ slow and this why that is: I don't use the correct brushes for things so I have to go back in and clean things up repeatedly. I use a mixture of air brushes and hard round brushes and while the result can be nice it takes forever. Detailed pieces like this tend to have 150+ layers (this one has 220) and I experiment with every piece instead of having a step-by-step process in mind.. so before I start taking on commissions, I need to make some custom brushes and think about how I work so I can find a way to get detailed outcomes without killing myself;;

Sorry I keep stalling things like opening a patreon or opening non-chibi commissions. I am currently on spring break but I have a few commissions/trades to do and I need to make sure I will have the speed and work ethic to finish more pieces without affecting my studies or my health. btw this picture is actually part of a bigger piece that I've been posting wips of but it's been a struggle so I've posted just mew ichigo for now.
